POSITION: SUMMER MISSIONARY
SUPERVISOR: YOUTH MINISTRIES DIRECTOR
PURPOSE: To help at-risk youth living in and around the Great Falls Rescue Mission grow spiritually, mentally, and physically by providing a safe and Christ focused summer camp.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Helping the youth to develop and enhance their relationship with Christ.
- Care for the campers physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
- Be an example of Jesus Christ to the campers.
- Assist in the development and execution of camp activities, crafts, and devotions.
- Facilitate and mentor a small group of campers.
- Setting up and tearing down station and supplies for camp.
- Spread the gospel though weekly visitation with campers families.
- Be a professional and positive representative of the Great Falls Rescue Mission.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Youth Ministries Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have a passion for children of all ages and feel led by God’s calling to serve in this area.
- Be able to effectively “connect” with the youth on an interpersonal level.
- Have a servant’s heart, prepared to put the needs of campers ahead of your own.
- Must have a joyful attitude and be willing to learn.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Be able to stand and walk for long periods. Must be capable of lifting at least 30 pounds.
- Capable of spending many hours outdoors, in summer heat. Be comfortable in and around water.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Christ follower
- Completion of Volunteer Application & Background Check Approval
- Agreement with Great Falls Rescue Mission Statement of Faith
- Interview with Youth Director and other staff
- Be available for the entire camp period. Any time off (excluding time off for illness) must be approved in writing before beginning the position.
- Solicit financial support and participate in fundraising
TRAINING/ORIENTATION:
The Great Falls Rescue Mission will provide training in ministry, youth protection, first aid, CPR, and other subject relevant to summer programming. Missionaries will attend team building sessions once a week throughout the summer.
